Press release, supplied by the British Furniture Association. Issued 13 August 2026. Edited for length; figures and quotes as issued. Source linked at the end.
The British Furniture Association has published its UK Furniture Market Review, a report on market trends built from Government statistics.
By value, 62% of the UK domestic furniture market is UK-made, compared with 65% in 2019.
In the wooden upholstered seating market, the share held by UK-manufactured sales has fallen by more than 20 percentage points over the last decade.
Kitchen furniture accounts for almost half of all general furniture sales by value, and wooden kitchen furniture commands 89% of the UK market.
The analysis draws on data from the Office for National Statistics, HMRC, and average unit price data for UK-manufactured products.

Editor's note
The wooden-frame upholstery figure is the one for our readers. A 20-point fall in the UK-made share of that market over ten years is the background to every conversation about why upholstery wages have been slow to move.
