Upholsterer

This role suits a time-served upholsterer who is equally confident with modern and traditional upholstery, takes pride in a high-end finish and enjoys working from technical specifications rather than a production line. What you will be doing as an Upholsterer - Upholstering bespoke sofas, chairs, headboards and occasional furniture to a luxury standard - Planning and making templates for cutting and sewing, including box cushions and components - Cutting, sewing and fitting fabric and leather, and working with foam and fillings - Re-upholstering modern, antique and period furniture using traditional and modern upholstery techniques - Working from technical job specifications and drawings - Maintaining high quality-control standards on every piece What we are looking for in an Upholsterer - Around 10 years' experience as an upholsterer in bespoke, contract or high-end furniture upholstery - Strong traditional upholstery skills (springing, stuffing, stitching, hand finishing) as well as modern upholstery - Experience re-upholstering antique and period furniture - Confident with industrial sewing machines and upholstery tools - Able to read technical drawings and specifications - Productive, adaptable and focused on quality workmanship What is on offer - £16 to £18 per hour (£32,448 to £36,504 per year), depending on experience - Overtime available at a higher rate - 28 days annual holiday including bank holidays - Company pension scheme - Free on-site parking - Ongoing training and development within a growing business - Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.30pm, Friday 7.30am to 12.30pm If you are an experienced upholsterer looking for genuinely bespoke work in a skilled workshop near Edinburgh, we would love to hear from you.
