Senior Cabinet Maker / Workshop Foreman
Essendine, Rutland, NG34 0RH · Confidential employer
£40,000 – £45,000
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established specialist manufacturer of bespoke kitchens, fitted furniture and architectural millwork, based in Essendine, Rutland. Producing furniture-grade cabinetry of the highest quality, their projects span high-end residential properties across the UK, USA and internationally.
This is a senior, permanent position for an experienced Cabinet Maker ready to take on a Workshop Foreman or team leadership role. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with previous supervisory or management experience in a cabinetry, joinery or furniture manufacturing environment — and equally from those who have previously run their own cabinetmaking or joinery business and are now looking to bring that experience into a senior employed role within an ambitious, growing manufacturer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day workshop operations while remaining hands-on in production
- Manufacture bespoke kitchens and fitted furniture to the highest standards
- Read and interpret technical and workshop drawings
- Oversee workshop production planning, allocation and workflow management
- Monitor progress against programme requirements and delivery schedules
- Maintain and enforce quality control standards throughout the manufacturing process
- Support, mentor and develop junior and mid-level members of the workshop team
- Assist with machinery setup, maintenance and workshop organisation
- Work closely with project managers and designers to resolve technical issues
What We Are Looking For:
- Minimum 10 years experience in bespoke cabinetry, joinery or architectural millwork
- Proven experience managing, supervising or leading a workshop team — or having previously run your own cabinetmaking or joinery business
- Strong technical knowledge of furniture and cabinet construction
- Ability to work from detailed technical and workshop drawings
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- High attention to detail and a passion for quality craftsmanship
- Experience with premium residential projects (desirable)
- Knowledge of veneered and solid timber construction (desirable)
- CNC or modern manufacturing experience (desirable)
- Full UK driving licence (preferred)
What Is on Offer:
- Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 per annum depending on experience
- Permanent, full-time position with genuine long-term progression
- Overtime opportunities
- A true leadership role with real influence over workshop culture and quality
- Varied and technically challenging projects at the premium end of the market
- Modern, well-equipped workshop environment
- Opportunity to help shape a growing business
